Wetting Agents

Florrea MiniDust® Dust Control Wetting Agents

Fugitive dust is typical generated during unloading, stack out, reclaim and crushing operations. These dust emissions can be a safety hazard and environmental nuisance and can increase maintenance of material handling equipment.

Florrea MiniDust® wetting agents are highly-concentrated blends formulated to enhance the dust suppression capabilities of water.

Florrea MiniDust® is designed to increase the ability of water to adhere to and spread over dust particles.
This increases the bulk density of dust particles and leads to agglomeration, which prevent particles from becoming airborne. Florrea MiniDust® dust control solutions are particularly effective in reducing respirable dust.

Dust control is one of the most pervasive issues at any mine site or processing plant. 

Florrea understand that dust can create serious health and environmental issues for your mining operation. Without the proper dust control solution, challenges with dust can strain your bottom-line results. 

Many operators use water sprays alone to suppress dust and remain in compliance. However, this method is largely ineffective, as water droplets are too large to effectively keep bulk solids wet.

Dust is a problem in every operation that involves crushing, screening, conveying, receiving and storage of dry bulk materials. Water sprays have long been used in an attempt to control dust. However, many dusts – particularly those that are very finely divided – are extremely resistant to wetting by water.

Some coal dusts in particular are very difficult to wet with water alone, but can be quickly and completely wetted by adding small amounts of wetting agents to the water. Adding a wetting agent to water aids dust suppression in two ways:

For a given quantity of water, more effective dust control is attained

For a required level of dust control, less water is needed..

This is an important consideration where water is scarce or it is undesirable to have excess water added to the material being treated
Dust control is also for loss prevention, handling & safety.

Florrea maximizes the impact of water by offering solutions that use surfactant chemistry. 

Surfactants optimize the surface tension of the water, creating smaller droplets that impact more surface area to have a greater impact on dust. Further, to stretch water use, Florrea also offers  foam dust control solutions.

Florrea MiniCoalDust® is an engineering blend of anti-oxidants, binders and foam suppression technology designed to mitigate unique handling issues associated with use of sub-bituminous coals and other reactive solid fuels. Florrea MiniCoalDust® treatment is typically applied at mine sites to reap maximum benefit from mine loadout to power plant delivery.
